About Steve

Steve's grateful to have spent another year in amazing health: no injuries and not sick once.  He attributes
this to a healthy lifestyle and... not flying. But perhaps it's just coincidence that he stopped getting sick
right when he quit spending hours in sealed containers with hundreds of germ-spewing strangers.

Education continues: Steve & Lisa began the year with an "Intro to Statistics"
class at Stanford (to help us with our work; Steve's final paper here), and finished 2016 with another
Stanford class on the Presidential Election and associated issues. Both exceeded expectations.

Steve continued exploring low-carbon activities, including:

Selfie on an empty train

Selfie in the woods while visiting dad

Long distance biking with his daughter

Long distance biking in Texas

Trail running above Yosemite valley

Local runs with family & friends

Wading across rivers

I really have no idea where this was...

Atop mount Tam with Jan

Admiring Dark Side vehicles in Illinois

Napping in the middle of a long hike, with a friend

Low carbon diet?

Regarding Home Energy Analytics --
During 2016 Steve led a brilliant team of designers and developers to build a cool new iPhone app to help Californians save energy in their homes. This work is being funded by a grant from the California Energy Commission, and the first version was released right at the end of the year. A huge accomplishment, but only a first step: we've already found a whole host of things to do to make it better. Happily, it's a 3 year project, so we've got time to make it even better.

On the home front, the big steel sculpture
Steve created in 2015 still stands!

But my new solar fountain (3D printed) art project
did not impress my patron. Apparently she
wanted something more like... a fountain

Turns out that when a pool cracks it's very hard to fix. Ours is available cheap, if you'll pay the shipping fees.

Our first time hiking the High Sierras near Mt Whitney.
Don't tell anyone, but ITS SPECTACULAR

Rain or shine, here's me with my best bud

27 years and still by my side

Clearly on a roll, Steve plans to try out more low-carbon activities in 2017.
