We had some great ski trips during the winter of 02-03, and one particularly memorable one: On the way up to Kirkwood for the last time in late April we spent the night in the car waiting for the plows to clear an avalanche. About 40 of us finally got thru early the next morning (see picture below left), and then had all the fresh powder to ourselves because they closed the road again after us. The nice snow made the night in the car almost worthwhile.

We were away from home for 6 weeks over the summer. Some wonderful friends in Copenhagen opened their home to us while they were in the US. We used their home as a base, and saw parts of Denmark, Germany, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Estonia and the Czech Republic, mainly via Eurrail Pass. The railways over there are wonderfully efficient, and good for playing cards.

The household routines are slowly stabilizing after the nuclear
explosion of adding a puppy to the mix.
He's already become a much adored member of the family, and has his own photo album here.
You can see from the two shots below (seperated by 5 weeks) that he's growing fast. We calculated that at his current growth rate he'll weigh 900 lbs this Spring.

Miki, our 11 year old cat and resident grandmatron, is still in denial. She is trying very hard to make him disappear.

(Steve's still learning how to use his digital camera. Luckily he has patient subjects.)
