About Eric
He lives in a big house with 16 friends, 2 dogs, a bunch of chickens, a few score bikes and a bus named "Bus". They have lots of fun and throw great parties in the basement with live bands.
They use the bus for group outings, and Eric is in the process of converting it to run on used vegetable oil.
Eric took the bus to Burning Man (his 3rd year) with 10 friends.
The bus was a big hit, as was the Land Rower he created last year.
This bike is not his, but he has many others!
He joined the Davis Bike Team this Fall.
He also continued his winning streak as the strangest dresser in the family. There was really no competition.
Eric worked as a mechanical engineering intern at Google over the summer, which he really enjoyed.
He got to work with a research group within the Driverless Car project, where he designed and built a test apparatus to help improve safety of future cars, especially during low speed collisions. He was able to complete the project before he went back to school, testing the device on a watermelon with great success.
Over Spring Break Eric did his first "minimalist bike touring" trip. He biked solo 330 miles from Truckee down to Lone Pine on his 20 pound road bike with a total of 15 pounds of supplies, including a tent and sleeping bag. He loved it, and is planning a longer trip this coming summer.
Life at UC Davis apparently involves a lot of outdoor festivities, hairstyles and clothing changes.
(There are persistent rumors it also involves rigorous academic endeavors,
but no supporting documentation appears on FaceBook.)
A fine example of Eric's diverse taste in formal wear, in which he gets widespread support.
