About Eric
He's renting a house with 5 other rowers; six days a week they all get up at 5am
for workouts so not too many late night parties!
Eric is now a dedicated rower and
continues to improve (sub 6:30 erg scores). In the spring
he got promoted from the novice boat to the varsity boat;
pretty rare for a freshman. And this fall he was selected
as one of 4 Davis rowers to compete at the Head of the
Charles in Boston (both pictures below; he has a white hat
in the boat). They finished 6th out of 39 boats in their
division, upsetting many east coast teams that had
expected to do better, and were only a few seconds away
from third place in a race lasting 15 minutes.
A great accomplishment for Eric and the rest of the team.
He tried lots of different
facial hair this year, but we like the french pirate look
the most.
The mohawk also reappeared
briefly for his trip to Burning Man, but it wasn't as
colorful this time.
He went to Tahiti this summer, with girlfriend Elle and
her family. We were all very jealous.
Eric got to work at the startup Halcyon Molecular
again this summer,
helping them improve their process for sequencing human
DNA. A very cool place to work.
Eric and Elle joined us camping at Steep
Ravine.

He had lots of beach fun this winter.
He likes making drift wood sculptures, although
some are more temporary than others.
Eric went to Burning Man this year, following in
dad's sometimes strange footsteps (and borrowed
dad's cute pink & orange dress for the occasion).
He really enjoyed it and is already planning for the next
burn. Instead of biking, he's hoping to row around the
playa next year...
Rowing workouts allow Eric to consume vast quantities of
food, but he still prefers mom's
cooking to anything he's found at college.
Finally, he's still looking for new
beard-doos,
though the wood might hurt after a while.
